In this paper, we propose an Evolutionary Programming (EP) heuristic to solve the resource allocation problem in wireless networks, aiming to maximize the total data rate and attain certain QoS (Quality of Service) parameters. The performance of the resource allocation algorithm is verified and compared to others in the literature using computational simulations. In these simulations, we also consider 5G techniques such as f-OFDM (filtered-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) and carrier aggregation in order to show that the EP based scheduling can provide higher data rate than other algorithms in the literature with the same scenario.
